The airfield was built in the 1930s for the French Air Force. It was captured by the Germans and then by the Allies in Sep 1944. The US Army Air Force returned it to French control in Jul 1945.
It became BA218 under French use but its military days ended in Oct 1967. It is currently used for light aviation. Some of the ex Air Force buildings still exist to the NW of the site.
