RAF Bicester was a light bomber station during WWII, latterly with the opening of 71 Maintenance Unit in Dec 1953 and its long association with gliding, powered flight was a rarity, apart from Oxford UAS activity - although a Jet Provost did land on the grass strip in Aug 1961. 71 MU moved to RAF Abingdon at the end of Mar 1975.
