RAF Bicester was a light bomber station during WWII, latterly with the opening of 71 Maintenance Unit in Dec 1953 and its long association with gliding, powered flight was a rarity, apart from Oxford UAS activity - although a Jet Provost did land on the grass strip in Aug 1961. 71 MU moved to RAF Abingdon at the end of Mar 1975.
The ICAO Code of EGDD had probably already fallen out of use by at least 1974.
