The Blacktip gas field was discovered in 2001 and development work started in 2006 in c 50m of water in the Timor Sea Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. The reservoirs are a series of stacked sandstones of Lower Triassic Mt Goodwin formation and the Permo-Carboniferous Keyling and Treachery formations. First gas was in Sep 2009. Product is exported from the unmanned Well Head Platform via a 58nm subsea pipeline south eastwards to a landfall just W of Wadeye, for the Yelcherr Gas Plant in the Northern Territory.
