RRE Defford was the home to the Radar Research Flying Unit (RRFU), which supported the RRE laboratories in nearby Malvern, with a wide variety of flying platforms. Defford closed in 1957 and about 40 of the RRFU aiframes (most not rotary wing) were transferred to nearby Pershore.
