Duncan / Palm Island

Following extensive dredging between Palm Island (to the west) and Duncan Island in the Paracel Group, the Chinese had created a significant, deep water harbour by 2012, in the disputed South China Sea. The dredged material was used to join the two islands by a breakwater and causeway to the south and to reclaim land to the north west of Duncan Island. An 8 pad heliport and supporting buildings were created there by Aug 2014.
