The R88 is Robinson Helicopters all-new helicopter in 15 years, designed for high payload capacity and operational flexibility. It will be type-certified for optional single-pilot IFR operations. With an internal payload exceeding 3,000 pounds (1360 kgs), it can carry two pilots and up to eight passengers, offering more than 3.5 hours of flight time and a range of over 350 nautical miles. Large sliding doors and a truck-bed style rear door improve accessibility for cargo and medical transport applications.
The R88 features a two-bladed main rotor, an open-tail rotor, and LED exterior lighting for improved visibility. It includes a Garmin avionics suite with G500H TXI touchscreen displays, GTN navigators, and a 4-axis autopilot with functions like hover assist and low altitude protection. A data recording system and Health Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) provide real-time diagnostics. Dual hydraulic controls for pitch and roll are standard, along with removable dual cyclic controls for flexible pilot seating.
Powered by the Safran Arriel 2W engine, the R88 includes a 2000-hour/5-year support program. Optional equipment includes a 3000-lb HEC-rated cargo hook, utility basket, wire strike protection kit, and pop-out floats. The interior is designed for multiple seating configurations, with a flat floor and an in-house air conditioning system. The R88 is intended for transport, medical, and utility missions, balancing performance with maintenance efficiency.
