The Belgian Army A109s are two derivatives of the military A109C, also known as the BA. The A109HO is primarily an observation version, the HA primarily an anti-tank attack version. The A109s mainly serve with 17 & 18 Battalions (approx 5 HOs and 14 HAs each) with the remaining 8 HOs with the SLV (Army Aviation School).
H46 was delivered as a pattern airframe, to form the basis of the remaining batch of 45 built by SABCA at Gosselies. Belgian A109s are powered by twin Allison 250-C20 engines.
During 2004 as part of a new unified structure, Army Aviation units were transferred to COMOPSAIR (Belgium Air Component)
