On November 27, 2019, the Ecuadorian Air Force announced the signing of an order for 6 Airbus H145M helicopters.
Locally dubbed Cobra, the first 2 H145 were delivered in October 2020 to Air Wing 22 (Ala 22), the operator of rotary wing aircraft in the Air Force. The final 3 helicopters were received in April 2021.

On June 4, 2023, they participated in search and rescue (SAR) operations during the flooding caused by the overflowing of Teaone River.
