In March 2019, the Philippines ordered 16 S-70i valued $241M and to be manufactured by Sikorsky’s PZL Mielec facility in Poland with first 6 planned for delivery in 2020. The Combat Utility Helicopter (CUH) contract is the result of the cancellation in early 2018 of the CCC Bell 412EPi contract after Canadian gov officials criticized the Philippine president Duterte on human rights issues.
- Initial batch of 6 Black Hawks were delivered between November 9, 2020 (5 in An-124) and December 2, 2020 (1 by ship).
On June 24, 2021 one Black Hawk crashed
- Second batch of 5 arrived June 7, 2021 again on An-124.
- Third and last batch of 5 arrived October 13, 2021.
In December 2021, plans were announced for additional 32 S-70i which was confirmed in February 2022 making it the largest single order of polish-made Black Hawk helicopters for PZL Mielec since S-70i aircraft production began in 2009. Deliveries to be completed by 2026.
