Brazilian Navy, February 21, 2019 - On February 12, Brazilian Navy 1st Helicopter Attack Squadron (HA-1) performed the first flight of a modernized Wild Lynx helicopter (AH-11B) on Brazilian soil, continuing the process of incorporating these helicopters into Navy service.
The modernization program foresees the delivery, this year, of one of the eight aircraft to be upgraded. Soon, these helicopters will be available to perform several missions in the Amazônia Azul ( the Blue Amazon term refers to Brazilian coastal waters)

Leonardo’ Yeovil plant in the UK is upgrading eight Mk21A helicopters to the Mk21B type with new CTS800-4N engines (the same used in the AW159 Wildcat), a new digital glass cockpit, new EW avionics suite and rescue hoist.
The Lynx Mk.21 first entered service with the Brazilian Navy in 1978. They were then converted to Mk.21A Super Lynx in 1999-2003. The new upgrade, Mk.21B Wild Lynx contract was signed in 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
