INAER first in Spain with OHSAS 18001 certification
INAER, March 22, 2011 - After two years of hard work by the Safety and Quality team, INAER has achieved OHSAS 18001 certification being at the forefront of Spanish companies most committed to the prevention of risks and the health of their workers. This is the first helicopter services company to be certified by Applus with this international referent.
OHSAS certification (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) is a specification developed by major standards entities of normalization and certification in the world, aimed at improving business management processes and health and safety in the workplace above the minimum required by law. Its purpose is basically to help organizations to effectively meet their obligations relating to health and safety, helping them identify, evaluate and manage safety and occupational health and occupational hazards as part of their usual business practice .
n 2008, INAER began implementing a management system for health and safety at work, which organizes, controls and directs the activities of the company in this area. The management system of occupational safety and health at work in INAER is common for all operators and maintainers of the company in Spain, having a single manual, procedures and common work instructions. Coordination and performance in the area of ??PRL is managed from the company headquarters in Alicante, where it has its place of work the Department of Occupational Health and Safety and the Department of Quality and Safety professionals, which allows to design and implement the same system in all INAER companies in Spain and generate synergies from a single organization. This has enabled a single audit of the implemented system, checking compliance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001:2007 reference in all organizations simultaneously.
Obtaining this certification is a recognition of the efforts made over the years in the prevention of occupational hazards and has allowed INAER to become a national benchmark in its sector. "This external recognition for the work done over the years attests the excellent work done by our Prevention Service, in coordination with the Department of Corporate Quality and Safety. But beyond, this recognition is extended to all personnel of the company, since as stated in our Manual of Safety and Health at Work, all INAER workers have assigned responsibilities in the management of our job security, "explains José Esteve, Corporate Safety and Quality Manager in INAER, "the management system is the result of a collective effort, where every employee plays an important role in its scope, making INAER a safer place to work day by day".
Aware that this award is a recognition for the implementation of its management system, INAER now has the challenge of demonstrating the ability of the organization to take full advantage of the management system to meet the additional requirements that are self-imposed, further progress in developing a strong culture of safety and demonstrate the effectiveness of the management system through continuous improvement in safety levels and achievement of the objectives of safety procedures.
