ATRX-700 Helicopter Officially Announced

California Defense contractor Advanced Tactics Inc (AT) to produce recreational Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) helicopters in partnership with Rotor X

The new ATRX-700 will be a new improved fly-by-wire version of the Rotor X 2-seat A600 Turbo kit helicopter

ATRX-700 Helicopter Officially Announced
Advanced Tactics, August 20, 2023 - On August 16th, in anticipation of the new FAA Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) Helicopter regulations that are now under review, Advanced Tactics Inc (AT) signed an exclusive agreement with the Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company (Rotor X) to design, modify and produce a new improved fly-by-wire version of the Rotor X 2-seat A600 Turbo kit helicopter. Rotor X will produce the majority of aircraft components from their existing helicopter kit factory.

The new 2-seat Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) Helicopter to be produced by AT. (www.advancedtacticsinc.com) will be called the ATRX-700. It will satisfy the proposed new FAA Light Sport Helicopter requirements for a recreational helicopter with a simplified control system. The ATRX-700 will be leveraging the fly-by-wire technology developed by AT for their large U.S. Air Force (AFWERX) VTOL pilot-optional aircraft contract. The ATRX-700 will use all the major A600 Turbo systems that include: 180 hp turbocharged engine, rotor systems, and structure, but it will have a larger, more spacious cockpit, larger fuel tanks, and simplified fly-by-wire controls.

The ATRX-700 Light Sport Helicopter Specifications:

- Max Gross Takeoff Weight: 1,700 pounds ~ 771 kgs
- Cruise Speed: 100 mph ~ 160 kmh
- Service Ceiling: 16,000 feet ~ 4,800 meters
- Payload: 650 pounds ~ 295 kgs
- Range: 300 miles ~ 480 km

The proposed FAA LSA Helicopter rules state that a simplified fly-by-wire control system shall be used in the helicopter to make it easier to fly. Advanced Tactics has developed many new fly-by-wire controls systems for the US Military in the past and on current USAF projects. By using this computer assisted technology AT will make a helicopter cockpit that uses the latest in-flight controls to assist the pilot in always having a very safe flight.

Advanced Tactics Inc is now taking pre-orders and deposits for the ATRX-700 helicopter which has an introductory price of $188,000.00 USD and is planned for initial production by February-March 2025. Actual production schedule is dependent on how long it takes for the FAA to finalize the new Light Sport Helicopter specifications. AT and Rotor X will also collaborate to offer flight and maintenance schools for the ATRX-700. The FAA Light Sport Helicopter recreational pilot’s license only requires 30 hours of flight training, no aviation medical certification, and just a driver’s license.

About Advanced Tactics Inc : Formed in 2007, Advanced Tactics Inc (AT) is a defense contractor in Torrance, California that has performed contracts for the U.S. Army, the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab, the Naval Air Systems Command, and the USAF Research Laboratory. AT is also working on 2 ongoing USAF AFWERX contracts. One is to develop a VTOL drone that can fly 300 miles and deliver 500 lbs of cargo, and the other is a large pilot-optional VTOL aircraft with a big stern-ramp that can deliver 2,500 lbs of cargo or vehicles at a range of over 300 miles.

AT currently has subcontracts on these two AFWERX projects: the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech) Vertical Lift Research Center of Excellence (VLRCOE) for aerodynamics, aeroelasticity and structures analysis; and with Rotor X for the fabrication of these AFWERX aircraft.
