US Army, May 08, 2018 - JACKSON, Miss by Lt Col Christian Patterson - Members of Company C of the 1st Battalion, 114th Aviation Regiment, headquartered in Tupelo, will conduct a sendoff ceremony, Friday, May 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Tupelo Army Aviation Support Facility located at 104 Lemons Drive.
Approximately 25 Soldiers are deploying for three weeks in support of Operation Guardian Support, a joint task force effort to conduct security operations along the U.S. Southwest border with Mexico.
They will provide aerial surveillance support to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Border Patrol using three UH-72 Lakota helicopters.
The Company’s upcoming mission will be the fourth time the unit has conducted Southwest border security operations. Unit members supported Operation Jump Start in Texas from 2007 to 2008. They also served during Operation Guardian Eye in Texas in 2012 and in Arizona from 2014 to 2015.
The company’s service underscores the Mississippi National Guard’s commitment to support joint and interagency efforts to strengthen security along the Southwest border.
