PZL-Mielec, December 20, 2019 - Four Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters manufactured at PZL Mielec have been officially handed over to the Polish Armed Forces.
The ceremony was held on December 20 in the presence of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak and numerous representatives of the Polish army.
Versatile and durable machines are adapted to perform various tasks, which will increase the operational capabilities of the Polish army.
“This unique moment has come when we are happy to deliver on time, in accordance with the first stage of the contract, modern Black Hawk helicopters for the Polish army. I believe that such specialized equipment will help facilitate and improve the difficult tasks of special forces soldiers. I wish future users that your helicopters will serve you well and contribute to your safety”, said Janusz Zakręcki, President of the Board and CEO of PZL Mielec.
The contract for four machines was signed on January 25 at Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze by the head of the Ministry of National Defense in the presence of the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Less than 11 months have passed since the contract was signed to the delivery of helicopters.
Designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the US Army, the Black Hawk multi-purpose helicopter is used for transport tasks and support combat operations. It is used by the United States Armed Forces and 31 other customers around the world. The first customer in Poland who chose this helicopter was the Polish police.
