During the afternoon of New Years Eve 2009, a fire broke out in the engine room of Trevessa IV, a Newlyn registered (PZ193) beam trawler. Falmouth Coastguard launched the St Marys Lifeboat and contacted RNAS Culdrose who re-tasked an already airborne Sea King to the scene. After c 50 difficult minutes winching and manoeuvring in a howling gale, all 4 crew members were rescued and taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
