A middle-aged couple were declared missing while walking in the inaccessible Prados da Messe area of the National Park during the evening of 16 Apr.
By dawn on 17 Apr, a Terrestrial SAR helicopter from Esq 552 at Ovar, had located them and airlifted the couple to Campo da Pereira soccer field near Gerês, where an ambulance had been positioned.
