The Centre Médical Héliporté (CMH) is a Belgian non-profit helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) organization dedicated to providing rapid-response critical care across Wallonia and surrounding regions. Founded to improve access to advanced trauma care in rural and mountainous areas, the CMH operates specially equipped medical helicopters staffed by highly trained pilots, emergency physicians, and flight nurses capable of delivering intensive care treatment directly at accident scenes before transporting patients to specialized hospitals.
Based near Bra-sur-Lienne, the CMH plays a key role in Belgium’s integrated emergency response system, supporting road accident interventions, industrial incidents, and urgent inter-hospital transfers. Its operations emphasize rapid dispatch, advanced onboard medical equipment, and close coordination with regional emergency services, helping reduce response times and improve survival outcomes in severe trauma and critical medical emergencies.
