Patria’s history began in 1921 with the establishment of the Finnish Air Force Aircraft Factory in Suomenlinna. Over the following decades, the company evolved through several organizational shifts, expanding from licensed aircraft manufacturing into mortar production in the 1930s and vehicle manufacturing during the 1940s. The modern iteration of the company was formed in 1997 when the Finnish state consolidated its defense industry into a single entity, Patria. Today, it is owned by the State of Finland (50.1%) and the Norwegian Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (49.9%), serving as a strategic partner to the Finnish Defence Forces.
The company's product portfolio is centered on protected mobility, weapon systems, and lifecycle support services. Its most recognizable products include the Patria AMV 8x8 and Patria 6x6 armored vehicles, which are used by numerous international defense forces. In terms of weaponry, Patria is known for its advanced mortar systems like the double-barreled AMOS and the single-barreled Patria Nemo. Beyond hardware, the company provides extensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for military aircraft and helicopters, such as the F-35 and NH90, along with digital solutions like the Patria OPTIME lifecycle management platform.
Since September 2013 is NH90 Service Center for Norway, Sweden and Finland.
