The Bulgarian Land Forces Aviation (Aviatsiya na Sukhoputnite voĭski, Авиация на Сухопътните войски) is the aviation component of the Bulgarian Army, responsible for tactical transport, medevac, special operations support, and disaster-response missions across the country. Established during the Cold War era, it originally operated Soviet-designed helicopters such as the Mi-2, Mi-8, and Mi-17, which formed the backbone of Bulgaria’s rotary-wing capability for decades. These aircraft supported troop movement, mountain operations, humanitarian assistance, and major international peacekeeping deployments.
