Formed in Mar 1978 at RAFO Seeb with AB.205s and AB.212s. Between Sep 1982 and Nov 1985 it also operated the AB.206B, mainly for reconnaisance. The AB.212s were sold in 2002. It operates permanent SAR detatchments at RAFO Masirah and in the far north of the country at RAFO Khasab.
On 01 April 2007 moved to Airbase Musanah 100 kms west of Seeb
