The Sheriff's Office Air Support Unit is equipped with two helicopters, a Bell OH-58C and Bell UH-1H. The OH-58C, known as Saber-1, responds to calls for service and is frequently the first on the scene. Saber-1 also assists in locating suspects and missing persons. The UH-1H, designated as Saber-3, is trained to assist the SC Forestry Commission by using the Bambi Bucket for fire suppression as well as County Emergency Response Team exercises.
