The North Slope Borough (NSB) is the northernmost borough (equivalent to a county) in Alaska, covering over 94,000 square miles (245,000 km²), making it the largest county-level jurisdiction in the United States. The borough extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Brooks Range in the south. It has a population of approximately 10,000, with Utqiagvik (formerly known as Barrow) being the largest community.
As of 2025, the NSB operates a dedicated Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter service width S-92 and Bell 412 aircraft which are set to be replaced by a pair of Leonardo AW189
