Established 1997, USAF Research Laboratory is a scientific research organization operated by the United States Air Force Materiel Command dedicated to leading the discovery, development, and integration of aerospace warfighting technologies, planning and executing the Air Force science and technology program, and providing warfighting capabilities to United States air, space, and cyberspace forces. Located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

In 2017, US Air Force launched AFWERX to engage inter and extra service innovators and entrepreneurs in USAF operations and future technologies. Agility Prime is a program to enable use and training of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) platforms.
