
Established 1983 when the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission approves Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) application to start Middle Tennessee's first air medical transport service.
Accredited by CAMTS since 1984.
As of 2015, Vanderbilt LifeFlight provides air medical transport within 150 miles of Nashville, Tennessee using EC145, EC135 and EC130 with one used as a backup. There are six bases located in Lebanon, Tullahoma, Clarksville, Smyrna, Mt Pleasant and Henry County covering all of Middle Tennessee, parts of West Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and Northern Alabama.
Operated by Air Methods since 2015.
On June 2018 opened 9th base at Humboldt Municipal Airport
On 2019, LifeFlight 5 moved from Rutherford County where it was based since 2012, to new leased hanger at Murfreesboro Airport
As of 2020, Vanderbilt LifeFlight has completed more than 45,000 accident-free patient missions.
