A bespoke, multi-purpose vessel (
Multifunctional Naval Platform) to undertake naval support and oceanic research roles, with a design focussed on achieving modularity through use of specialist containerised services, such as hospital facilities, hyperbaric chambers and ROV control suites, scientific and technological research, search & rescue, emergency relief, as well as maritime safety and environment, oceanographic & meteorological monitoring. It will be capable of deploying helicopters and unmanned drones.
The programme is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) to assist Portugal in its responsibilites towards its huge maritime area.
