ELDEC to provide electrical power equipment for the RAH-66 Comanche helicopter

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, USA ( ELDEC Company Press Release ) - -ELDEC, a Crane Co. company, today announced that it has been selected to provide electrical power equipment for the RAH-66 Comanche Helicopter.

Hamilton Sundstrand, Rockford, Ill., is developing the complete electrical power system for the Comanche. The company selected ELDEC to supply the Battery Charging System and two high-powered DC to DC Converters for the power system.

Hamilton Sundstrand chose ELDEC for the power equipment because of ELDEC's previous success on the Boeing Joint Strike Fighter program. Rodney Mack, ELDEC Electrical Power System director, added: ``We are currently working with Boeing on developing power conversion equipment, flight critical power equipment and the battery system for the Joint Strike Fighter.

``Hamilton Sundstrand also supplies power system equipment on that aircraft and were impressed with ELDEC's capabilities in battery systems and DC to DC conversion.''

The Comanche is a twin-turbine, two-seat (tandem) armed reconnaissance helicopter with projected missions of armed reconnaissance, light attack and air combat. Initial operating capability is set for the year 2006. ELDEC is anticipating beginning Engineering/Demonstration deliveries of the electrical power equipment in 2003.
