| 1999-06-12 | 810Sqn /L-013 w/o 12jun99 810 NAS “ Written off in 1999 on SNS Reina Sofia during a NATO Exercise. The helicopter was tethered to deck for a hot refuel with the autoheading still engaged. The ship changed course causing helicopter to spin round and fall over, writing off the airframe. PIC was Lt. JR Mitchell. After circa 15 years at Gosport the airframe was scrapped - the cockpit section was saved and is in private hands in Lancashire, currently undergoing restoration. ” | ||
