St Croix, USVI This H-3 was used for logistics support for the Atlantic Fleet Weapons Training Facility and based at Roosevelt Roads NAS, Puerto Rico. Day of crash it was transporting RCA contractors and mail between Roosevelt Roads and the Saint Croix Underwater Test Range. It went down a couple miles west of Frederiksted, St, Croix in over 3,000 feet of water. Crash site was on a portion of the Under Water Test Range. The next year portions of the aircraft were recovered by the DSRV Alvin.
