While I was responsible for 073, it was part of the 1st Armored Division's 501st Aviation Battalion Combat. The battalion was located at four locations in southern Germany, Ansbach, Illesheim, Bamberg, and Fuerth. From at least 1980 till 1986, 073 was located at Monteith Barracks in Fuerth as a command and control aircraft supporting a tank brigade. This aircraft was in excellent condition at this time. When the Monteith Barracks flight detachment was disbanded in 1986, I went to Bamberg and 073 went to Ansbach and reintegrated into the larger fleet of the Company. During Iraq War 1, 073 participated in battle. ”
