“ I initiated the PAN PAN then a little later the MAYDAY for this incident, as O.O.W. on board the British Enterprise Five a DP Ship. This started with a radio call from Dan Alpha Rig asking if I had seen their helicopter. I was the Chief Officer and as I initiated the emergency I ended up in charge of the search. The search pattern I devised was carried out by British, Russian and USA warships and British, Danish and Norwegian Merchant vessels including several Rig Standby ships. I ran the search until we located the crashed Helo and the bodies were recovered. The two crew and single passenger all died. I seem to remember one of the casualties hadn't fully fastened his Survival Suit. This happened if my memory is correct on the 2nd/3rd and 4th January 1984. ”
