w/o 27nov68 Lost to enemy ground fire while attempting to insert a Special Operations reconnaissance squad in Cambodia. Door gunner SSgt Gene Stuifbergen was pinned under the wreckage and killed with four of the six man SF squad. His three crew members and two of the squad survived and were rescued. SSgt Stuifbergen's remains have yet to be recovered.
