Used as a Commonwealth Flying Training station during WWII. Between 1954 and 2005 the site was a plant for Vertol Helicopters / Boeing Canada, in particular the SAR Capability Upgrading Programme in the early 1980s for the CAF CH-113 and CH-113A fleet, which completed around 1985.
The site is used by Ontario Hydro, the Ornge Air Ambulance and occasional refueling stops by the RCAF. To the south and east, there is access to the licenced water aerodrome (CNB5) on Lake Madawaska.
