Former Army Camp used during WWII for training, the RAF established a bombing range here around 1959, with land targets and ship hulks a mile or so offshore. Around 1993, coastal erosion had removed the low cliffs the land targets were built on and it was decided not to replace them. In 1998, the range was closed.
