The aviation school moved to the eastern side of the Rangueil area of Toulouse around 1968. The academic campus was separated from the airport to the east by the A620/E80 major road.
Economic growth in Toulouse put pressure on the land and the airport closed, although the ENAC academic facilities remained open. By 2011, the north end of the runway had been built over, by 2015 the southern end had been cut by a main road and by 2018 the centre had been dug up and redeveloped. Only traces of the runway remained in early 2023.
