The Wheatstone Field was discovered in 2004. The production platform is on the eastern edge of the adjacent Iago Field, where subsea infrastructure brings unprocessed gas from Wheatstone. Wheatstone and Iago production makes up c 80% of the gas exported (the other 20% is tied in from the Julimar and Brunello gas fields) via a 112cm undersea pipeline, the 225km to the onshore processing centre in Ashburton North, to the west of
Onslow, where it is compressed and cooled into LNG (Liquified Natural Gas). The first LNG left the onshore plant in Oct 2017.
