Originally opened in Feb 1918 as Minchinhampton. Reopened in 1938 for Fighter Command as RAF Aston Down, regular military flying from here ceased in 1965, although it was still used by RAF Little Rissington for circuits and flypasts as late as 1971.

An active gliding site since c 1967.
