The Dagmar field was discovered in 1983 in the south west of the Danish sector but not brought into production until 1991. It was initially a high producer of oil in the most upper part of the Cretaceous (Danian), from an anticline influenced by Zechstein salt movement. The associated gas was sulphur rich (sour) and has mostly been flared off. Production rates fell rapidly and by the end of 2006, the field had been shut down and the wells capped.
