The Syd Arne field was discovered in 1969, with the reservoir in fractured Upper Cretaceous chalk, towards the eastern edge of the Central Graben. Syd Arne was producing by 1999 and the hydrocarbons are separated on site. Oil is sent to a seafloor storage system beneath the platform, for later export by tanker but treated gas joins a pipeline to Nybro on the Danish mainland.
