As well as a large A&E department, Whipps Cross Hospital is the London hyperbaric (de/re-compression) specialist centre. Its helipad was in a small field near the NW edge of the hospital buildings, which had been marked out on the grass by 2003. However by 2011, building work began over it and that landing site was closed; the Hospital remains open.
