Bell MV-75 Cheyenne II

The Bell MV-75 Cheyenne II is a twin-engine tiltrotor military aircraft under development by Bell Textron for the United States Army. It was selected in 2022 as the winner of the Army's Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, which aims to replace a large portion of the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk fleet.

The aircraft is derived from the Bell V-280 Valor technology demonstrator and combines vertical takeoff and landing capability with the higher cruising speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft. Bell states that the MV-75 is designed to cruise at speeds exceeding 280 knots (520 km/h; 320 mph) and to provide significantly greater range and endurance than conventional helicopters.

In April 2026, the U.S. Army officially designated the aircraft MV-75 Cheyenne II. The "MV" prefix denotes its multi-mission vertical lift role, while "75" commemorates the founding of the United States Army in 1775. The name "Cheyenne II" continues the Army's tradition of naming helicopters after Native American tribes and honors the Cheyenne people. The designation also recalls the Bell AH-56 Cheyenne, an advanced attack helicopter developed in the 1960s.

The MV-75 incorporates a modular open-systems architecture intended to simplify future upgrades and integration of new mission systems. Prototype flight testing is expected to begin in 2027, with the aircraft planned to enter operational service in the early 2030s as the Army's next-generation long-range assault aircraft.
