The Colombian Air Force (FAC) has operated the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk since receiving its first five aircraft in 1988, fundamentally reshaping the nation's strategic and tactical capabilities. Stationed heavily out of the Rionegro Air Base since 1990, these versatile medium-lift helicopters became crucial in reclaiming territorial control and combating guerrilla and drug-trafficking organizations through air assault, casualty evacuation, and pioneering night-vision operations.
To meet its intense combat demands, Colombia worked with Sikorsky to develop the "Arpía" (Harpy), a heavily armed, uniquely modified gunship variant specialized for counter-insurgency warfare. Beyond domestic combat operations, the FAC utilizes its Black Hawk fleet for essential search and rescue, disaster relief, and regional humanitarian missions across neighboring South American nations.

1988 - 10 UH-60A Arpia I
1995 - 5 UH-60L Arpia II
2000/1 - 11 AH-60L Arpia III (originally intended for Venezuela?)
2006 - 2 UH-60L
Further Blackhawk supplied to Colombian Army since 1997 after the creation of Brigada de Aviacion
Also used by Presidential unit ( FAC 0007 )
