Leonardo USA

Service : 2016 to present

Based on the AW119Kx, was Leonardo entry for the US Navy trainer helicopter program to replace the Bell TH-57 Sea Ranger
The Leonardo AW119T is a single-engine light helicopter developed from the AW119Kx Koala and optimized for advanced military and civil pilot training. It stands out as the only helicopter in its class fully FAA-certified for IFR operations, enabling realistic training in poor weather and low visibility. The aircraft features a flexible cabin (typically 1–3 trainees plus a central observer seat), modern glass cockpits such as the Garmin G1000NXi or Genesys IFR suite, and enhanced safety with a crashworthy design and redundancies uncommon in single-engine helicopters. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6B-37A engine, it offers a 241 km/h cruise speed, up to 945 km range, and over 5 hours endurance. The platform is used in major training programs, including orders from the Turkish Land Forces and its selection by the U.S. Navy as the TH-73A Thresher, replacing the Bell TH-57 Sea Ranger
