In November 2021, the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) leased 4 civilian AW139 helicopters from Weststar as an interim measure and stop-gap after the retiring of the S-61 Nuri fleet.
RMAF long-term plan is to eventually acquire 24 new helicopters with combat-search and rescue (CSAR) capabilities between 2026-2035.
First 2 delivered in December 2021 as M104-01 and M104-02.
