The Securite Civile received their first batch of EC145 between 2002 and 2005 in order to replace their aging Alouette III. A second group was delivered from late 2008. This fleet carries out an average 10,000 rescue missions each year. They are deployed on 22 different heliports in both France and the French Overseas Territories. The Securite Civile EC145 are equipped with an emergency flotation system, loudspeakers and a winch. Some airframes also have a searchlight.
In December 2015, Airbus awarded contract to upgrade avionics suite of 35 helicopters between 2016 and 2023 to comply with latest European navigation regulations
As of 2024, five EC145 of the Securite Civile have been lost in accidents with 13 fatalities.
The fleet is being replaced by the 5-bladed H145D3.
