Outerlink, November 01, 2021 - Outerlink Global Solutions is a small business with offices in Massachusetts and Louisiana, focused on innovation and constant evolution. This year, during SHIFT AMTC, they’re celebrating a long history of firsts.

“Metro Aviation has partnered with Outerlink for years, helping develop its cutting-edge IRIS product and AXIS console, and we’re a longtime user of its hardware and software suite,” says Metro Aviation President Mike Stanberry.

“A lot of companies like to say they’re the first to do this or the first to do that, but you can’t always believe everything you hear or what you read on the internet.”

In 2018, during HELI-EXPO in Las Vegas, Nevada, Outerlink announced an integration with the Zoll X monitor that gave medical crews the very first ability to push live EKG data to receiving hospitals in less than 12 seconds. The system wirelessly transmits data and waveforms, as well as an extensive set of vital sign data, including 12 lead EKG, blood pressure, O2, and CO2 saturations. When Outerlink launched the feature in 2017, with the ability to transmit data in flight, it was truly revolutionary. Today, more than 25 air medical programs have enabled the EKG capabilities.

Aside from revolutionizing the very first in-flight medical data transmission, Outerlink was the first to send 40 live data labels with each aircraft position report. These data labels include the status of cautions and warnings, fuel remaining, and engine parameters.

The system is flexible and allows customers to select any recorded data point to also be sent live over the air. Outerlink was the first to provide high interval one-second position reports at no additional charge beyond data usage, and the first to offer low-cost Push-To-Talk (PTT) communication from ground and air at just a penny per second. Outerlink’s PTT communication is available through any browser, including mobile, and is the only PTT solution charging users only for what they speak and not what they hear.

Outerlink is also the first service provider to offer a robust, affordable software suite with flight analytics and an information console. Outerlink’s software is designed to automate complex data analytics revealing maintenance and flight operation insights. As the only provider offering all of their features with internal products and manpower without the use of a third party, Outerlink is truly a pioneer in the field of data and communications and is genuinely committed to putting their customers first.

“I felt the need to speak up for Outerlink,” said Stanberry. “The company has a small staff of really smart people, and they have worked tirelessly to revolutionize safety and communications in the air medical industry. It is important that their efforts are properly memorialized.”

To learn more about Outerlink’s capabilities and the story behind the innovations, visit Outerlink on the Metro Aviation Booth, #325, during SHIFT AMTC in Fort Worth, Oct. 31 – Nov. 2.
