Helis, August 29, 2018 - On Thursday August 23rd, Brazilian Naval Aviation helicopters landed for the first time in the new helicopter carrier and flagship of the Brazilian Navy, the PHM Atlântico (A-140).
Passing through Cabo Frio, helicopters Helibras/Airbus EC725 (UH-15 Super Cougar), Bell 206B-3 (IH-6B) and Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk (MH-16) landed on the ship and continued their trip to Rio where they arrived the 25th for the official presentation.
The Porta-Helicópteros Multipropósito (Multi-purpose helicopter carrier or PHM) Atlântico is the former Royal Navy HMS Ocean (L12) which first entered service in 1998. In 2017 was announced sale to Brazil to replace their only aircraft carrier, the NAeL São Paulo a former French Navy ship. The deal also included a refit at UK shipyard prior to delivery.
