Helis, June 18, 2018 - The Bell V-280 Valor team celebrated the six-month anniversary of the aircraft's First Flight.
US Army' Future Vertical Lift Cross-Functional Team, or FVL CFT, is focused on replacing legacy aircraft such as the CH-47 Chinook, the AH-64 Apache and the Black Hawk with a new family of aircraft that share a common architecture.
On August 2014, the Army chose the Sikorsky/Boeing SB>1 Defiant and Bell V-280 Valor to build demonstrators for the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) / Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programme.
Bell' proposal completed its maiden flight on December 18, 2017.
Since then, aircraft #1 achieved:
- 38 flight hours
- performed "cruise mode" flight
- it speeds up to 190 knots
