US Army, September 06, 2023 - GOLDWATER AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, AZ by Spc Anthony Nadeau - In a remarkable display of military cooperation and synergy, the Arizona Air National Guard's Logistic Readiness Squadron has embarked on a mission of strategic significance, overseeing the sale and transfer of Apache helicopters to the United Kingdom. This collaborative endeavor underscores the vital role that the Air National Guard plays in strengthening international partnerships and global defense capabilities.

Staff Sgt. Eric Swanberg, a distinguished member of the 161st Logistics Readiness Squadron, shed light on the mission's scope and importance. "Our role as air terminal operations specialists encompasses joint inspections and operations related to loading and unloading Air Force aircraft. We are committed to showcasing our capabilities, not only to our local community but also to our allies around the world."

Swanberg further emphasized the significance of the mission's impact, both locally and internationally. "By partnering with organizations like Boeing and working alongside our NATO allies, we are contributing to the defense capabilities of the United Kingdom. This initiative serves as a testament to the strength of international alliances and the Air National Guard's commitment to global stability."

Tech Sgt. Joe Franzen, a vital component of the 161st Logistics Readiness Squadron, added insights into the logistical intricacies of the operation. "Our mission involves joint inspections of cargo as per the foreign military sales contracts. This ensures that the purchased Apache helicopters are certified and ready for transportation. Our involvement not only bolsters our career field's capabilities but also enhances the airport's standing within the broader military landscape."

The transfer process is underpinned by meticulous inspections and adherence to foreign military sales contracts. This commitment has been instrumental in fostering strong relationships with partners such as the United Kingdom.
