Helis, August 18, 2023 - On August 17, 2023, a U.S. Air Force C-17 delivered the first of 8 Bell UH-1Y Venom helicopters to the Czech Air Force.
Production of this aircraft began in Texas in 2021, and it was the first one produced for an international operator. The US Marine Corps received 160 of this type between 2005 and 2018.
The transport aircraft landed at Náměšt nad Oslavou, carrying also the third of 4 Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters ordered in the same package back in 2019 to replace russian-made Mi-171 and Mi-24.
In addition to these helicopters, the United States donated 4 UH-1Y and 2 AH-1Z refurbished aircraft.
The Czech Republic became the first nation to order both Bell models, and its crews completed training in the USA earlier this year.
