Airbus Helicopters, November 01, 2016 - Airshow China - CMIG Leasing (previously known as CMIFL) has become the launch customer of Airbus Helicopters’ next-generation, twin-engine H160 helicopter in China, thanks to the signature of a letter of intent announced today at the China Airshow in Zhuhai.
“Our cooperation with Airbus Helicopters has been one of great success. We are confident that the H160 will have a bright future in China, as it takes on various missions”, said TANG Min, CMIG Leasing President. “CMIG Leasing is committed to providing sound helicopters leasing solutions to the growing China general aviation market. The acquisition of the H160 as the launch customer in China is definitely a win-win development with our customers, as we strive to meet their evolving demands”, he added.
The H160 represents the future of helicopters, combining form and function in a highly stylised rotorcraft, which integrates nearly 70 different Airbus Helicopters’ patented technologies. The distinctive design of the H160 includes the largest-ever Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, the all-new Biplane Stabiliser, the first ever Blue Edge main rotor blades, and integrated Helionix avionics, offering improved performance, flight stability, reduced exterior noise levels, and increased safety. All these features make H160 the true reference of the new generation helicopters.
Reinforcing the ongoing partnership between Airbus Helicopters and CMIG Leasing, a firm order for the additional batch of the H125 single-engine helicopters, was signed during the airshow. This is part of a framework agreement covering a total of 100 helicopters of the Ecureuil family announced last year in Tianjin, for which deliveries to CMIG have already begun. These helicopters will be leased to local general aviation companies and mainly dedicated to civil rescue and location, and emergency medical services missions.
“I am really honoured to see CMIG Leasing becoming our launch customer for the H160 in China”, said Marie-Agnès Veve, Head of Airbus Helicopters in China. “This is a testimony of the long-term, strategic cooperation we have developed with our Chinese partners, of which the framework contract for 100 Ecureuils is a clear illustration of the strong partnership”, she added.
